Deep Water Vineyard

Kiawah Island is a place that inevitably calls to visitors looking to make the most of their time on the sand, under the sunshine, and in the surf. However, not far away from the shoreline you’ve come to enjoy, you can indulge your tastebuds during your stay too with a well-deserved visit to Deep Water Vineyard. Located at 6775 Bears Bluff Road on Wadmalaw Island, Deep Water Vineyard is found just 22 miles from the Andell Inn following State Road S-10-20 and Bears Bluff Road. When traffic is right, a little over a 30-minute drive will have you sipping your way through a fantastic afternoon from a place on a patio overlooking the vineyard with options to play a round of cornhole in good company on-site to follow.

A Lovely and Inviting Legacy of Flavor

In 2001, Deep Water Vineyard opened to the public under its original name of Irvin House Vineyard. Under the ownership of Jim and Ann Irvin, the vineyard has grown into the Deep Water Vineyard. Retirement presented the couple with options to focus their full-time attention on building their lifelong dream to reach its full potential. Deep Water Vineyard spans 48 acres of lush and productive terrain dotted with towering oaks that make for stunning views for guests. It’s become a Lowcountry icon adored by wine aficionados and newcomers to tastings alike. At Deep Water Vineyard, visitors have options to try everything from robust reds to dry whites spanning Zinfandels, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Chardonnay, just to name a few of many.

Plan a Visit

You won’t need a reservation to enjoy time at Deep Water Vineyard unless you’re visiting with a large group or looking to book a private event. Join Deep Water Vineyard for a tasting session every day of the week; guests can sign up for their spot on arrival by making their way through the gift shop. A typical wait time is around 20 minutes to get a tasting session underway. Saturdays are typically the busiest day of the week. While you wait for your session, you can grab an ID bracelet from on-site staff, try a sample wine slushie, and saddle up to the outside bar to enjoy the scenery. Deep Water Vineyard is open Tuesday through Saturday from 10:00 am until 5:00 pm with final tasting sessions beginning at 4:00 pm.

On-Site Events to Check Out

While Deep Water Vineyard hosts a few big events throughout the year, it’s often the weekend wine-downs that bring first-time guests back time and again. Weekend wine-downs occur rain or shine each Saturday throughout the entire calendar year from 10:00 am until 5:00 pm. During weekend wine-downs, 6-sample tastings are held on the hour for just $15 and participants receive a souvenir stemless glass to commemorate the experience. Enjoy drinks on the patio and food trucks on-site while you listen to live musical entertainment. Weekend wine-downs are pet-friendly events and family-friendly gatherings as well. There are lawn games for guests of all ages to try including swurfer/swing and cornhole.
