Salute from the Shore

This Carolina tradition continues for this year’s 4th of July, celebrating America’s 250th birthday! Salute From the Shore starts at around 1 pm, as F-16 fighter planes will take off from Shaw Air Force Base and make their way down the Carolina coastline, starting at Cherry Grove in North Myrtle Beach and ending in the Beaufort area. If you want to pay your respects from Kiawah Island, we suggest heading to Beachwalker Park. For timing, we’d suggest arriving around 1:15 pm and staying until around 1:25 pm to give the planes a chance to fly over.
Enjoy a 4th of July Beach Day

Whenever you’re done with the air show, stick around on Beachwalker and enjoy a classic day at the beach. The 4th of July is a busy time of year for Kiawah’s beach, so we recommend planning your trip accordingly, especially if you choose to combine your beach day with Salute from the Shore. Once you’re there and set up, enjoy the tranquil waters of the Atlantic at Kiawah’s only public access beach!
Shopping, Music, and More at Freshfields Village
After you enjoy the beach, head over to Freshfields Village for shopping, dining, and easygoing summer fun near Kiawah Island. This open-air shopping center is a great place to grab a bite, browse local shops, or enjoy a relaxed evening without leaving the island. The village will also host a few events during the 4th of July weekend. On Friday, you’ll get the chance to catch a live performance from R&B group, Tru Sol, starting at 6 pm, while on Saturday, Monkee’s will host its Monkee’s and Mimosas event, featuring complimentary sips from 10 am to 6 pm.
